[gdw]

[ FEW: 16,738b rotjan; Gdf: 7,227a roir; GdfC: 10,585c roïr; TL: 8,1418 roïr; DEAF:  roïr; DMF:  rouir; TLF:  rouir; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]
rehaer,  rehayer,  roheer,  rouer,  reheiter  34.7

Some of the variant forms suggest that the verb was understood to be a prefixed form of the verb ha[y]er, which is otherwise unknown. The deviant form reheiter found in Fem2 may have arisen from confusion with reheiter1 or may have been influenced by the ME retten v.2, also meaning ‘to ret, soak’.

v.a.

1agriculturalto ret, soak (flax) in water to soften
