(presuccessour) (1339-40)

[ gdw]

[ FEW: *12,379b succedere; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF: ; DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]

The author of the fourteenth-century document creates this erroneously prefixed form of successur, most probably in contamination with its antonym, predecessur. As the second citation indicates, the legality of the claim is questioned specifically by the use of this incorrect term. The lexeme is therefore a nonce-word.
