ruvencel (c.1185)

[ FEW: 10,530 rubens; Gdf: 7,254a rovecel; GdfC: ; TL: 8,1518 rovencel; DEAF:  rovent (rovencel); DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]
rovencel,  rovencele;  ruvencele,  ruvioncele

The word is frequently read in editions as ruventel. That form may well have been influenced by the corresponding adjective ruvent. However, with the c and t often undistinguishable in medieval writing, it remains unclear whether both forms are genuinely medieval, or whether ruventel is the product of modern editorial practice.
