[sultain] (s.xiii1/3)

[hp]

[FEW: 12,60b solitaneus; Gdf: 7,461b soltain; GdfC: ; TL: 9,1019 soutain 2; DEAF:  soutain; DMF:  soltain; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]
sultan

The editor has glossed the term as 'powerful' though there is no etymological reason to understand the term in this sense. It seems possible that the term represents a derivation of Latin solitaneus either in the sense of 'solitary' as it is defined here, or perhaps in relation to the goddess's link to the wilderness.
