sussier1 (s.xivin)

[gdw]

[FEW: ; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF: ; DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]

The definition is suggested by the Middle English gloss. In the absence of an etymology for this sense, the word may perhaps be interpreted as a variant of either soucier (‘to be anxious’) or sucher1 (‘to suck’).

v.n.

1to groan, moan (?)
( s.xivin; MS: 1382 ) Homme cyngulte et sussie (M.E. belkyth and gronyth)  91
