The definition is based on the meaning of the rare Latin word (see DMLBS obvolutorium 1992b). The Anglo-Norman term lacks an etymological explanation and may be a transmission error for tonel or tendriere, both denoting a net for catching birds (see also TLL i 230 n.157).
