[FEW: ; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF: ; DMF: ; TLF: ; OED:  trailbaston n. (traynebastoun); MED: ; DMLBS: ]
traynebastoun

Rather than a transmission error for trailbaston this unique form replaces the word’s first half trail (OED trail v.1) with the synonymous verb trainer, retaining the word’s original sense of ‘to trail, drag along a club’.
