tandele (c.1216-20)

[hp+dd]

[FEW: ; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF:  tandele; DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED:  tandele n.; DMLBS: 3396c tenelus]
tandelle;  tandle

The form is only attested in Lib Alb. The MED suggests an etymology from Latin tendlus (see DMLBS tenelus 3396c). It also suggests the term derives from the French tendelin, which is attested only in Gdf 7,675c in the sense of 'hotte pour le transport de la vendange'.
